16-17 June 2015 - An unforgettable evening!

Along the Arno of Pisa it is renewed every year, at dusk on June 16, the magic of the Luminara di San Ranieri. Traditionally, the people of Pisa are used to celebrate the holidays with this unique lighting patron of 17 June.

There are about seventy-thousand wax candles that are meticulously set in glasses and hung in wooden frames painted white (known in the jargon linen), shaped in order to highlight the shape of palaces, bridges, churches and towers overlooking the Arno river Pisa.

Program

Day 1:

June 16th Thursday.

Arrival in the city of Pisa. Accommodation at the Villa Tower Inn **** hotel or similar in the center of Pisa. In the morning, meeting with our specialized guide who will take us to discover the beauties of the city such as Piazza dei Miracoli with its Cathedral, Baptistery, Cemetery and Campanile, or the leaning Tower of Pisa. We will also visit together Borgo Stretto, Borgo largo and we will also take a walk on Corso Italia, where in the afternoon you can do some shopping

At dusk you will see strange presences climbing on the walls of the houses and buildings: these are the insiders who will be lighting the candles for the homage to San Ranieri, the patron saint of the city of Pisa, celebrated on this very day. The light show will be even more evident when the sunlight disappears completely and a surprise will wait around midnight: the fireworks!

As soon as you are able to free yourself from the crowd of people, return to the hotel where a rich breakfast awaits you the next morning.

Day 2:

June 17th Friday.

Wake up early for a visit to the Palazzo Blu in Pisa, which is located right on the Lungarno. In June this museum offers a temporary exhibition called "Connections, Telling Hope". It is curated by Giorgio Bacci and presents a selection of original drawings, as well as photographs and videos, taken from the volumes Lamiere, Salvezza and migrant stories, published by Feltrinelli Comics between 2018 and 2019.
In the afternoon a last look at the monuments that struck you the most or that you were unable to see the previous day.

Return to your home.
