|2 days and 1 night|
Arrive in the city of Pisa in the morning. Check-in at the hotel will not be until 2 pm but this will not cause you any problems because you can still leave your luggage in storage until your return. Free lunch and Piazza dei Miracoli awaits you!
Our guide will take you on a tour of all the attractions in the Piazza dei Miracoli.
You will have the opportunity to discover all the secrets and history of the square's 4 monumental giants.
The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, one of the masterpieces of Romanesque architecture, has a nave embellished with Romanesque columns and arches, with a high altar adorned with precious works of art. One of the most significant elements of the cathedral is the pulpit by Giovanni Pisano, a sculpted structure that tells stories from the Bible with great artistry.
The Baptistery of St. John is a magnificent religious building dedicated to him, a splendid example of Romanesque and Gothic architecture. Characterized by its cylindrical shape and splendid dome, passing through the huge decorated bronze door, it houses frescoes, sculptures and remarkable acoustics due to its architecture. Not to be missed is its extraordinary baptismal stack, made by Guido Bigarelli da Como in 1246-1248, adorned with fine sculptures, including a statue of St. John the Baptist.
Last but not least is the Monumental Cemetery, which, adorned with unmistakable frescoes, completes the architectural complex of the Piazza dei Miracoli.
Coming to Pisa and not climbing the Campanile is like going to Paris and not climbing the Eiffel Tower.
So all you have to do is wait your turn to climb the Leaning Tower.
This is a full 57 meters high and there are about 300 steps.
The effort will be repaid when, once you get to the top, you have a 360-degree view of the entire Piazza dei Miracoli with Pisa as its backdrop. The excitement cannot be described in words, so try it to believe!
This is not the end of the story, because right in the square is also the Museo delle Sinopie, which is waiting for you to illustrate sinopias, which are preparatory sketches for red or brown earthen frescoes that were made as a guide for artists before painting frescoes on the walls.
At the end of the tour, your guide will say goodbye and you can return to the hotel to freshen up before dinner at a restaurant, where Pisan cuisine is ready to satisfy your stomachs after this fine day of culture.
